HRTC, (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) is the main transport provider when traveling in Himachal Pradesh. HRTC connects Himachal Pradesh with almost entire Northern Indian cities of Chandigarh, New Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Dehradun, Haridwar, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Amritsar, Jammu, Katra & Leh.

HRTC operates mainly three types of bus service

HRTC Bus timings from Delhi to Manali

HRTC VOLVO Bus service

HRTC operates it’s own VOLVO bus service from New Delhi to Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala. Himachal Roadways was the first one to operate VOLVO buses in entire Northern India. The buses are run and maintained by HRTC. There is no connectivity of inter city VOLVO buses within Himachal Pradesh.

The VOLVO fare between important cities is:

Delhi ISBT to Shimla                   : ₹1191/-

Delhi ISBT to Manali                   : ₹1904/-

Delhi ISBT to Dharamshala        : ₹1678/-

Chandigarh 43 to Manali            : ₹1222/-

HRTC Deluxe Bus Service

Himachal roadways AC bus

HRTC operates AC Deluxe bus service. The AC bus service is listed as Himdhara bus service on HRTC website. These Deluxe buses also connect Delhi with all major towns of Himachal namely Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Dharamshala and Chamba.

VOLVO buses between Chandigarh to Manali

HRTC operates a number of buses exclusively between Chandigarh to Manali. These buses leave at 8.50 am, 12 noon, 5.50 pm and 10 pm from Chandigarh Sector 43 bus station. HRTC also has a VOLVO service for Chandigarh airport drop from Manali and Shimla during peak tourist season.

HRTC operates a fleet of ordinary buses and these buses connect Himachal with every nook and corner of the state. These HRTC ordinary buses ply as far as to Tanakpur on Nepal border and Sriganganagar in Rajasthan. HRTC has a regular service within all major towns between the state and also connects with Chandigarh, New Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mathura, Salasar, Dehradun, Haridwar, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Amritsar, Pathankot, Jammu, Katra & Leh.

The buses generally feature a 2×3 non AC seating configuration with comfortable seating and are designed to operate efficiently on the challenging hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh. HRTC Ordinary buses are known for their extensive route network, regular services, and economical fares. Recent additions to the fleet also include BS6-compliant buses equipped with improved passenger amenities such as USB charging ports, cameras etc.

HRTC Timetable

HRTC website has a time table of all buses plying within and outside the state. The timetable though not absolutely perfect provides necessary information about routes and timings of buses plying between all major cities.

The official website of  HRTC  is http://www.hrtchp.com which displays the timetable of all buses. One can find many sites in Google search with the name HRTC but they do not represent HRTC in any manner.

HRTC Online Booking

HRTC provides online booking facility of VOLVO, Deluxe AC and Ordinary routes on its website. Entire booking is done online, and one can also choose the desired seat numbers. The bookings can be made by paying through UPI, Debit / Credit cards. HRTC also has a bus booking app available for Android and Apple phone users.

Apart from Online booking, HRTC also offers booking facilities one month in advance at its booking counters. These booking counters presently only issue tickets for buses leaving from that particular city. This facility is available at Shimla, Dharamsala, Kangra, Palampur, Mandi, Kullu, Manali, Chamba, Chandigarh, Haridwar & Delhi. Here is a link to HRTC customer support offices in various cities.

There are two booking counters in Shimla and Delhi. At Shimla, the counters are at the main ISBT and at The Mall next to Himachal Tourism Office. At Delhi one can book tickets at ISBT Kashmiri Gate and at Himachal Bhawan near Mandi House.
