Delhi to Manali by road is a 10 hours journey and distance from Delhi to Manali is 500 km. From Delhi, one can travel to Delhi bypass and then take NH 44 Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal till Ambala and later onwards to Manali via Kurali Greenfield Expressway.

Delhi > Sonipat > Panipat > Karnal > Ambala > Shambhu Border > Green Field expressway > Kurali > Ropar > Sundernagar > Mandi > Kullu > Manali

There are many options to travel by road from Delhi to Manali. One can travel by VOLVO buses, state transport ordinary buses and by personal car and taxi.

Delhi to Manali VOLVO

Traveling by VOLVO buses is the most convenient way to travel from Delhi to Manali. VOLVO buses leave from Delhi ISBT at Kashmiri Gate. There are at least 50-80 private VOLVO buses which depart from Delhi to Manali. These buses depart between 4.30 pm to 11 pm and can be booked online from various online companies like Redbus, MMT etc.

HRTC, the state roadways run VOLVO buses from Delhi to Manali. HRTC VOLVO buses leave from ISBT Kashmiri Gate in the evening. These buses can also be booked online on HRTC website.

Private buses normally do not enter Chandigarh but instead travel straight to Ropar and beyond while HRTC VOLVO and ordinary buses travel via Chandigarh enroute to Manali.

Ordinary buses of HRTC are also available from Delhi to Manali. These buses leave from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Following is a screenshot of timings of all HRTC buses from Delhi to Manali.

Delhi to Manali by car

Journey from Delhi to Manali can also be done by car / taxi. It takes 11 hours to reach Manali with two stops midway to break the journey. The most popular destination for a break is Murthal near Delhi for breakfast and then around Sundernagar for late lunch.

An ideal destination to take a halt midway is around Bilaspur. Bilaspur is 6 hours drive from Delhi and further Manali is 5 hours drive. The new four lane NH does not enter Bilaspur town but there are many hotels, restaurants on Bilaspur bypass. If you choose to take a night break here then there is a HPTDC hotel at Bilaspur which offers a comfortable stay.

 Delhi to Manali by train

There is no direct train facility from Delhi to Manali. If traveling by train then Chandigarh is the last station on this route. Chandigarh to Manali will be 8 hours drive by road. You can hire taxi for Manali or travel by bus from Chandigarh to Manali.
