The highest point around Kufri is the Mahasu peak. One can trek to the peak or hire ponies.
Kufri becomes crowded during season time resulting in frequent traffic jams.
Around Shimla, one can visit the Jakhu hill, famous for the Hanuman Temple with lots of monkeys thronging the place. Vice Regal Lodge, the residence of the Viceroy during British Raj now housing the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies should also be explored.
