Rohtang Pass faces fresh spell of snow

The cold wave remained unavoidable as the mercury settled at its lowest lowest at Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti at minus 11 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur at minus 7 degrees, the tourist resort of Manali at minus 5 degrees, Dalhousie, Solan at minus 0.4 degrees each, Sundernagar in Mandi and Bhuntar in Kullu at minus 0.2 degrees each and Shimla, Hamirpur and Chamba at zero degrees of temperature.

The Rohtang Pass which is situated at 13,051 ft height and the Baralacha Pass at 16,020 ft height located on the Manali-Leh highway received snowfall. The local Meteorological office has predicted of heavy to very heavy snowfall, rains and thunderstorm at many places in mid and higher hills during the next few days.

A warning has been issued the outsiders especially the tourists not to venture out unprepared in the higher and inner reaches of the State. There is also a forecast of widespread rains in the lower alleviations.
